The example below should be used for example purposes only. Each individual Westie should have a treatment program tailored especially for that Westie depending on the severity of the Malassezia and the Westie’s overall condition of health:
Angel (Moderate)
Bathe every 5 days with Malaseb shampoo let sit for 10 minutes then rinse well
- Ketoconazole 100 mg once a day for 40 days
- Keflex 250 mg started 2XD but changed to 1XD because of vomiting total of 20 pills
- Otomax (Tri-Otic) both ears 2XD for 7 days
- Benedryl as needed in the beginning but switched to daily after she was no longer getting the Ketoconazole
- Premium Edge Lamb and Rice kibble fed dry – nothing added
- Chicken Treats (freeze-dried in a can) as treats – occasionally
